It’s no longer science fiction: China has held a kickboxing tournament between humanoid robots, and it’s as real as it is disturbing.

The event took place in Hangzhou and is part of the CMG World Robot Contest Series, an initiative organized by China Media Group, the country’s largest state-owned audiovisual conglomerate. The competition was broadcast live on CCTV and other official platforms. A video summary of the tournament is currently available on the China Central Television website.

As reported by the aforementioned outlet, four G1 robots manufactured by the Asian company Unitree Robotics were in the ring. They faced off in one-on-one duels, demonstrating not only brute strength but also agility, coordination, and, above all, balance.
