TSMC is ready to take control of Intel’s chip factories. It just doesn’t want to do it alone.

TSMC is in talks with NVIDIA, AMD, Broadcom, and Qualcomm about forming a joint venture.
This Taiwanese chipmaker would never have a stake exceeding 50%.

According to these media outlets, TSMC is preparing a proposal to present to both Intel and the US government to take control of the American company’s integrated circuit production plants. However, this Taiwanese chipmaker does not want to face this challenge alone; it prefers to do so alongside other companies that are presumably also interested in participating in the management of Intel’s factories.

According to Reuters sources, TSMC executives are talking with their counterparts at NVIDIA, AMD, Broadcom, and Qualcomm with the goal of forming a joint venture to manage the plants. TSMC would never have a stake exceeding 50% in this joint venture. At the moment, there has been no official confirmation supporting these negotiations, but given the current situation, this information is highly credible. In any case, this plan will not come to fruition without the approval of the Donald Trump administration.
