Can WhatsApp Meta AI be disabled?

In recent days, users in Mexico have begun to notice a new blue button on WhatsApp with an icon of interlocking circles at the top of their chats. This is Meta AI, the app’s new artificial intelligence assistant, designed to facilitate searches, answer questions, and provide useful information without having to leave the app.

However, despite its multiple functions, the arrival of this tool has caused dissatisfaction among thousands of people, who believe it invades their privacy, takes up unnecessary space, or simply don’t want to interact with a virtual assistant within their messaging app.

Can WhatsApp AI be disabled?
For now, WhatsApp doesn’t allow you to completely disable the Meta AI feature from the app’s official settings. However, there is a simple and effective trick to minimize its presence and make it disappear, at least visually, from the home screen.

How to remove the blue AI circle from WhatsApp?
One of the most useful recommendations is not to update WhatsApp to its latest version, as that’s where the tool is activated. But if you’ve already done so, you can still follow these steps:

Delete the Meta AI chat: If it’s already appeared in your conversation list, delete it like any other chat. On Android, long-press it and select “Delete Chat”; on iOS, swipe the chat to the left and select the same option.

If you want to reset the AI, send the command /reset-ai to the Meta AI chat. This will delete previous stored interactions and show you a confirmation message indicating that the chat copy will be deleted from the servers.

Until WhatsApp enables a feature to manage Meta AI individually, the assistant may reappear in future updates. Therefore, users who do not wish to use it should be aware of new privacy options that may be added later.
