Trump’s tariffs hit the seven tech giants

The world’s largest technology companies, known as the Magnificent Seven—Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet (Google’s parent company), Meta, and Tesla—have lost more than $5.3 trillion in market capitalization since the peaks reached in recent months following Donald Trump’s election victory.
According to market data reported by EFE, as of Friday, April 4, the market capitalization of these companies had dropped dramatically, and none of them had managed to maintain the $3 trillion market value they reached months ago, as was the case with Apple, Microsoft, or Nvidia.
After Trump announced global “reciprocal tariffs” of 10% on Wednesday, April 2, and higher rates for other regions and countries such as China and the European Union, Wall Street plummeted, with losses in the last two sessions approaching 10% for the Dow Jones Industrial Average and 12% for the Nasdaq.
For technology companies, which demonstrated their affinity with Trump—several of their CEOs were even present at the president’s inauguration on January 20—the declines have exceeded double digits in most cases.
