Dow Jones rises 400 points: Apple, NVIDIA, and Goldman Sachs lead the way

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 386 points, or 10.96%, to 40,598.93. Leading the gains was Apple, which gained 5.24%, followed by Goldman Sachs’ 2.3% gain and NVIDIA’s 2.23%. Only UnitedHealth opened lower, losing 1.06%. The S&P 500 advanced 1.56% to 5,446 points, while the Nasdaq advanced 2.15% to 17,084 points.
The major New York indices are coming off one of the most volatile weeks in Wall Street history, although the final balance was positive. This was largely thanks to Wednesday’s spectacular gains after news broke that Trump had granted a 90-day extension to tariffs imposed on several countries.
But despite last week’s rebound, the three major indices continue to record sharp declines since the so-called reciprocal tariffs were announced. The S&P 500 fell 5.4%, while the Nasdaq Composite and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell around 5% and 4.8%, respectively.
